Fire Alarms |
All our multi occupied houses have now had heat alarms installed in the communal hallways, most of the heat sensors are in the communal hallway but there is one in each flat.
The alarms have control boxes in the communal hallway (pictured here), if the alarm goes off make your way out of the property. On the alarm control panel you can see where the fire may be. Each flat is represented by its own number on the panel and the communal hallway is the number of flats in the block +1 so if the house has 3 flats the communal hall is number 4 on the display panel. The display will light up with a red light in the area of the suspected fire, e.g. 1 means there may be a fire in flat 1 and a alarm will sound throughout the house. Once you are sure the alarm is a false alarm you can turn off the alarm. |
Turn off the alarmIf there is a false alarm you can turn off the sounders. Somewhere near the alarm control panel there will be log book and some keys. The only key tenants need is the red plastic key the other keys are for the engineers to use to test the alarm system, which should happen once every six months.
If you can't find the key don't worry there is a code that can be typed into the panel. |
Insert the keyIf you have one place the red plastic key into the keyhole and turn it - it will only turn one way. You now have control of the alarm panel - press the button in the red block this will silence the alarms. To reset the alarm panel press the button in the green block and then turn the key and remove it. replace the key on the wire it came from.

InstructionsThis set of instructions will be right next to the alarm control panel. If there are any problems there is a phone number on the sheet that can be called 24 hours a day.
If the key is missing there is a code on the instruction sheet 2143 this code can be entered using the keys on the control panel and then press the red button, then the green button but you must press the button in the yellow box to exit control of the alarm panel this is the same as turning the red plastic key and removing it from the box, you are turning off the ability to control the alarm panel. |
If you discover a fire in your property sound the alarm by breaking the glass on one of the red break glass boxes get out of the property and dial 999.
We would strongly advise all our tenants regardless of what type of accommodation you live in to prepare an escape route imagining the fire may take place in the dark, make sure your escape routes are free of clutter.
