Before the area we know as Aigburth was established Lark Lane & the surrounding district was known as Toxteth Park. A Royal Park belonging to King John, who granted Liverpool its town charter in 1207, and was used for hunting and recreational purposes.

Lark Lane and the surrounding area as we know it today was a Victorian invention and the homes that we now live in once housed the merchants, manufacturers and other traders that came about because of the wealth created by the Industrial Revolution.
Here are some entries copied from the 1901 Census of the people who lived in some of our properties including the terraced streets off Lark Lane as these would have been built to house the Servants & Gardeners etc that would service the large houses
This is one of our terraced houses was home to Jane Williams who was a charwoman, her daughter Emma 23 a tobacconist another 4 children aged 19, 14, 5 and 3. they also had another family living in the same house as boarders Joseph Evens his wife and at least one child.
This is one of our merchants houses Mr Fredrick Abbleby a miller and employer, his wife and two small children, with four servants.
