Rent
We have some of the lowest rents in the area, however tenants face problems with paying rent occasionally. If any of our tenants have any problems paying the rent, please contact our Housing Officer by either writing or calling on 0151 726 2200. Tenants can be advised of details of outside agencies such as the C.A.B or RAISE (welfare rights advice agency) who can help you to budget or ensure that you are claiming the benefits that you are entitled to.
Recently the Government introduced Universal Credit which is being rolled out in stages to new benefit claimants. Universal Credit is a single monthly payment for people on low pay or out of work and replaces the following benefits:
Income-based jobseeker’s allowance
Income related employment and support allowance
Income support
Child tax credit
Working tax credit
Housing benefit
If you’re already claiming one of the above benefits being phased out, you should carry on claiming as normal. You’ll be told when you need to do anything differently.
If you are claiming universal credit, you need to be aware that your rent contribution will be paid to you as part of the universal credit payment. You will need to arrange with your landlord how you will pay this rent element that you receive into your bank account to your landlord.
